Little Brother Montgomery

& Jeanne Marie Carroll

September 1st, 1969, Little Brother Montgomery invited the Adelphi Records crew into his home for a recording session which included his good friend Jeanne Carroll, an outstanding and versatile vocalist. Less than two years prior to this filming, Little Brother had suffered a massive stroke, but few, if any, after effects were evident in his musicianship. Miss Carroll, a native of Ruleville, Mississippi, was a popular jazz singer among the Chicago music crowd. During this visit, she demonstrated mastery of a wide range of vocal styles, from blues to Tin Pan Alley favorites. Miss Carroll now lives in Europe, but her daughter, Karen Carroll, is a popular blues belter who records for Delmark.
